Me like bees are creating a buzz...

Alex Freund

At least they are making their existence known in my music-sphere.

Me like Bees is the name of a band. They play music. They are from a town in Missouri I frequently visited in my youth. Their Spotify bio name drops one of my all time favorite bands the White Stripes. The group is going to be performing at a two day festival I am attending in June and I can't be more excited.

My first introduction to the band is their third most played song on the green music machine, Ra Ra Etc... the track fits into the poppy dance rock genre of the mid 2000s and the vocal bridge and chorus is heavily influenced by Modest Mouse. I did make the Modest Mouse connection prior to reading their musical influences, so score a point for me. Whether intended or not, the song blends what I consider key components of folk rock like whistling and bells with the garage band indie rock sound of heavy handed drums and controlled chaotic vocals.

I would be doing my intrigue into the weird a disservice if I didn't point out how much I love their artwork for their album the Ides.

Despite performing at a festival I stumbled across and having shown up in a discovery playlist a while back, I truly was shocked when their listener count is only a hair over 50,000.

I can't wait to see them in person at Boulevardia in Kansas City and I think you should listen to Ra Ra Etc. below.
