Aerosmith Deuces are Wild
Since the Super Bowl is this Sunday, I wanted to do a post over my first favorite band thanks to the halftime show of Super Bowl 35.
Though I recall watching solely to see N*Sync and Britney Spears perform, two additional artists caught my attention and one would influence my life's trajectory forever. Nelly and Aerosmith also accompanied the half time show and Steven Tyler and Justin Timberlake singing Walk this Way was the start of something Amazing. I remember hoping to see Aerosmith in person once, someday, but I just kept saying Dream On. Fast forward to prepandemic 2020 and I had the privledge of see Aerosmith live and in person for the second time...in Vegas...6th time overall.
Between having Tom Hamilton play the bass line to Sweet Emotion mere inches in front of me to Joey Kramer returning to the band for the first time in about a year at that point, my second Vegas residency show of the Bad Boys from Boston was an absolutely unbelievable experience. VIP Stage access with in ear monitors to hear the music direct without feedback was specatular and the music nerd in me found myself listening to Steven Tyler's frequency where I could here isolated pre-effect vocals and stage manager directions in the perfect blend of fan and feelling like I was a part of the crew for 2 and a half hours.
Despite their music not being played quite as much on repeat as it once was, Aerosmith's music and the memories the band has on my past is something I don't take for granted. Many of their lyrics I carry with me for comfort and confidence. Many who know me personally would tell you their album Nine Lives saved me. The stage presenc of Steven Tyler was something I aspired to have growing up, being a creative with a fashion style and look that screams secure in who they are. Their art is so deep rooted in my soul, I can hear small bits of the band in most music I listen to.
Now it's time, to say good bye to you. Now it's time to bid you sweet adieu.
Baby, drink a cheers, to yesterday. And maybe you'll drink your tears away.
So baby, don't let go. Hold onto me tight. 'Cause I'll be home tonight.
