We Didn’t Learn a Thing – Greg Holden

Alex Freund

Contrary to Greg Holden's 2022 single, I have learn a lot about the singer/songwriter in a very short amount of time tody. After listening to the most recent episode of the Fame-ish Podcast about mid-way through, I switched over to find the guest of the episode’s music page. Recently I have been going to an artists most recent release vs. their top music to see what their current sound is like vs. what they are known for.

To make this a very brief post, please listen to this track. The instrumental in the beginning feels anticipatory and the tone in which the vocals are delivered feel ominous and full of emotion. After learning the background and history of Greg’s career, his art is wildly known despite himself being fairly under the radar. Heavy topics and passionate lyrics with bleak, melonchaly tone and a splash of romanticism run all throughout his library of tracks.

Though his contributions to pop music are massive in his co-writing Phillip Phillips’ “Home”, I have added Holden to my Small Time, Big Sounds Playlist to integrate his music and similar artists like him into my rotation.

Thanks to Jukebox the Ghost for introducing me to a friend of yours by having him as your first podcast guest. I look forward to many more introductions into new-to-me artists.
